Open House March 14, 2015: Learn about our ambulance service

We are very excited to announce a change in the way we provide emergency medical services to the community. We have added the Libertyville Fire Department as an additional provider for ambulance services.

Why We're Making a Change

Currently we have an ambulance contract with Lake Forest Fire Department, and they have serviced approximately 100 ambulance calls per year for our residents. That number is projected to change dramatically in the near future, with the construction of the new senior care facility at the former Hill Top location at Rt. 43 and Atkinson Road. This facility is expected to generate an additional 300 to 400 ambulance calls per year. Given the nature of our contract with Lake Forest, it would be cost-prohibitive to use them as a sole provider.

To address this issue proactively, we have had extensive discussions with various ambulance providers and evaluated a variety of different scenarios. In contracting with Libertyville, we have implemented a solution that is fiscally responsible to Knollwood taxpayers, that is fair to all parties, and will ensure our usual top-notch professional service and response times.

How to Learn More

We know you may have questions about what this change means. We will be holding an Open House at the fire station (14 Skokie Highway) on March 14th, 2015 at 10:00 am. This is an informal meeting with no agenda other than answering any questions you may have. If you cannot attend, please feel free to contact Fire Chief Jon Harlow at 847-234-0219 or
